School Improvement Plan of New Davao elementary School 2009-2012 by Cheryll L. Minales

I.   Introduction

. . .Torch are for those who wants to find their ways from darkness.
Lesson Plan for the teachers that guides them to what they teaches.
Bible for the priest to influence and change the individual holistically,
Spiritually in particular thru their preaches.
Scripts are for the actors for the to perform well on stage to please the   audience.

And for the educational institutions, in order to make a difference and to be able to survive ---a call for strategic and intensive planning is really needed to block the incoming conflicts (dilemma) and to achieve the goals in the future. And this plan is something that goes to the minds of the School Administrators. To some, it is man’s  power to search and to look back the past, to look widely around, especially the core concerns---environment, resources and potentials to be able to look forward and anticipate the events of the near  and distant future. It attempts to bridge, that is to bring tomorrow, today based on the facts of present  and previous trends that connects on what are yet to come. And that is how the utilization and formulation of this so called School Improvement Plan (S I P) originates.

This School Improvement Plan (S I P ) represents the 5-year plan and is a products of the minds, suggestions and ideas of the Scholl Heads, Teachers, Pupils, Parents and Stakeholders. It also includes the formulated objectives, strategies, and processes not only to identify the proper interventions that will lead to higher academic performance of the learners but also to improve the physical facilities of the institution to cater quality education and be conducive place for learning. It also includes the Staff Development and other concerns as shown in the Program of Action for 5 years and annual Implementation Plan (A I P). Whatever marked improvement that is manifested in the school is the result of the implementation of the SIP which serves as a vehicle towards school effectiveness.

This document also embodies the dreams and aspirations of the school for the next three years. The implementation of the projects, interventions, and activities reflected herein will surely lead to the attainment of the school’s Vision and Mission.

Talacogon is one of the municipalities and belongs to third class municipality with 16 barangays. Barangay Zamora is one of these barangays.

Sitio New Davao is the farthest sitio of Brgy. Zamora New Davao was established last 1980 under the administration of Hon. Talino Ozarraga as a Brgy. Captain of that time. It has the total land area of 4.3 hectare. During that time there was only 9 households with the population of 55 people. Sitio New Davao was surrounded with different sitios and barangays. At west is the Barangay Del Monte and at the east is the Barangay Culi-Ram. In the north side of this sitio is San Mariano which has belonged to the municipality of San Luis. New Davao is a hilly place. It has a total distance of 20 kilometers from the the Poblacion of Talacogon passing through at Sitio Tuburan and Sitio Cebuna of Brgy. Del Monte.

There are two options to reach this place. From Sitio Tuburan, we have to hike 1.5 kilometers and it will take about one hour and thirty minutes. While it takes for us to hike 2 kilometers if we start hike from Sitio Cebuna. The people in this community are mostly came from Davao. At present there are 45 households with the population of 222. Among this 35 households only 3 are came from Surigao del Sur and the rest are Davawenio. They are highly civilized people. Eventhough they live at the middle of the mountain, but still their houses are like in the cities style. They have appliances with the use of solar. They have also mobile phones.

The people here are mostly catholic. Regarding their literacy profile almost 30 percent are illiterate because they give more priority and time to work in the farm. They plant different agricultural products like rubber, corn, root crops, banana, coffee, coconut, and falcate trees. They raised also different kinds of animals like pigs, chickens, ducks, goats, and carabaos.

They brought their products through manual hauling, through carabao sled and through single motor or “habal-habal “at the nearby barangay Del Monte and sometimes at the public market of Talacogon. In a month their income was approximately 3,000.00-10,000.00.

2.   Political and Geo-Political Aspects

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Barangay Zamora, the Sitio Council of New Davao and the Municipality of Talacogon played a major role in the giving the financial assistance of the school. They are allocating a budget for our local paid teachers. The table below showed the financial assistance extended by the LGU to New Davao Elem. School as of last year until this school year 2009-2010.

3 komento:

  1. I hope your school improvement plan would be mapped out well. Do you have any idea of the best elementary schools in metro manila?

    TumugonBurahin
  2. This is not my school plan.It is posted for reference and for the purpose to save the document from the flash disk.Recently, the Department of Education-Philippines have mandated all school to draft their School Improvement Plan following the new format and tool stipulated in the DepEd Order.

Speaking of best elementary schools in Manila, their a lot of names to mention speacially in the private sector. However, the Department of Education is seeking to improve its quality through the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum, the inclusion of Kindergarten and addition of 2 years in Basic education.

The effectiveness and efficiency of Instruction and students achievement depend on National Achievement Test, conducted annually to test and assessed students learning and delivery of services.

For more information, visit the Department of Education website:www.deped.gov.ph
